Israeli Army Radio revealed on Monday that Egyptian security forces detained an Israeli citizen who accidentally crossed the maritime border into Egypt. According to the report, the Israeli was riding a jet ski in the Red Sea when he inadvertently crossed from Israel into Egyptian waters.

Israeli military observers, who recognized the citizen, dispatched forces to stop him. However, he managed to cross the border and was subsequently arrested by the Egyptian police.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that the incident was handled by the ministry and the Israeli embassy in Egypt. The Israeli citizen was later handed over to his home country authorities.

This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. About a year and a half ago, another Israeli crossed the maritime border between Israel and Egypt on a jet ski and was released by Egyptian authorities after interrogation.
