Daniel Hagari, the spokesperson for the Israeli military, confirmed on Monday that Israel is closely monitoring the developments surrounding Iran’s threats to launch a strike but has not yet altered its precautionary guidelines for citizens.
Hagari added, “We are monitoring what is happening in Iran as much as we can. And we are not doing this alone; we are monitoring alongside the United States and other partners.”
He continued by saying that the military has not issued new public safety instructions but will promptly update the Home Front Command with any necessary changes. He also emphasized, “We take seriously the statements and comments made by our enemies. Therefore, we are fully prepared for both offense and defense.”
Anticipated Iranian Attack
Israel is bracing for a potential attack from Iran and the Lebanese group Hezbollah following heightened tensions after a missile strike on July 27 in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that killed 12 children and teenagers.
In the aftermath of that attack, Israel killed a senior Hezbollah leader in Beirut, followed by the assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran the next day, prompting Iran to vow retaliation.
