Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani was formally invited to attend the World Government Summit 2024. This invitation was presented by the UAE Ambassador to Iraq, Salem Al-Zaabi.

During the meeting, Al-Zaabi extended the regards of UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Dubai’s Ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as per the Prime Minister’s Office’s statement.

The UAE Prime Minister extended the invite for the summit, scheduled to take place in Dubai in February.

Al-Sudani acknowledged the strength of the Iraq-UAE relationship and highlighted the summit’s significance, particularly regarding its potential impact on improving citizen services.

The summit, running from February 12 to 14, will see global government representatives, international entities, and private sector leaders gather to promote global cooperation.

The event focuses on developing innovative solutions to future challenges and inspiring a new wave of leadership.

Earlier this month, al-Sudani announced the formation of a bilateral committee to schedule the withdrawal of the ‘International Coalition’ forces from Iraq.

During the official central ceremony of ‘Commemorating the Victory Leaders’, the Iraqi Prime Minister stated that ‘the Iraqi government is the only entity authorized to enforce the law on its territory’.

Al-Sudani added, ‘Iraq has a strategic partnership agreement and diplomatic relations with the United States.

This situation has violated the main principles of international relations and what is stated in the United Nations Charter regarding equality in sovereignty between states and the prohibition of the use of force in international relations.’
