The Joint Operations Command in Iraq announced on Sunday the initiation of a military campaign aimed at targeting the remnants of ISIS and demolishing their hideouts in the north of Baghdad.
In a press statement released today, the Command specified that the operational commands in the provinces of Salahuddin, Kirkuk, and the eastern part of Salahuddin, particularly in the Tuz Khurmatu area, commenced an operation in the early hours to exert continuous pressure on ISIS elements.
This strategic move was based on precise intelligence and involved a widespread deployment of various security forces.
The statement further highlighted that the operation was conducted with the involvement of fighter jets, army helicopters, and various security agencies and departments, demonstrating a coordinated effort to counteract and eliminate the lingering threat posed by ISIS in the region.
This operation signifies a continued commitment to securing the area and dismantling terrorist networks.
The spokesperson for the Commander-in-Chief of Iraq’s Armed Forces, Major General Yahya Rasool, announced plans for ending the International Coalition’s mission in Baghdad.
The discussions focused on evaluating the threat of terrorism, operational environment situations, and immediate and future options to enhance the capabilities of Iraq’s Armed Forces.
According to Major General Yahya Rasool, these meetings are a critical step toward finalizing the requirements for the plan to end the International Coalition’s mission against ISIS and transition to broader bilateral relations with the member states.
Reuters reported that two civilians were killed in a Turkish airstrike in the Dohuk province in northern Iraq. The civilians lost their lives in the mountainous Shiladze area of Dohuk province due to the Turkish air raid.
A security source informed Shafaq News Agency, “Two individuals were killed and another was injured due to Turkish shelling targeting the Barski village in the Shiladze area north of Dohuk.”
