Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has emphasized the importance of parliamentary cooperation with Algeria as a means to bolster various aspects of bilateral ties.
He expressed his hope for substantial strides in the economic realm that would match the strong political ties between the two nations.
This affirmation came during a reception at the Iranian Presidential Palace in Tehran, where President Raisi welcomed Ibrahim Boughali, the President of the Algerian People’s Council (the Lower House of Parliament).
Boughali is on an official visit to Iran since last Sunday.
According to a statement from the Algerian Parliament, Boughali conveyed the greetings of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to his Iranian counterpart, underscoring the deep-rooted brotherly ties between the Algerian and Iranian peoples.
President Raisi highlighted the significance of convening the Joint Iran-Algeria Economic Committee at the earliest opportunity.
He praised Algeria’s unwavering and explicit stance on Islamic issues, particularly the Palestinian cause.
In a related context, President Raisi emphasized Iran’s commitment to establishing peace and security in the region. He stressed that dialogues can yield solutions for the existing crises, asserting that security is linked to non-interference by foreign powers in the internal affairs of nations.
On his part, President Boughali pointed out the numerous avenues for collaboration between the two countries, including knowledge exchange.
He highlighted President Tebboune’s focus on developing Algeria’s economy within the framework offered by the new investment law.
Boughali also underlined his commitment to enhancing parliamentary cooperation and activating the common elements between the Algerian and Iranian legislatures.
He emphasized the importance of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Council of Member States in facing challenges affecting the Islamic world and countering any form of violation against Islamic sanctities.
