The latest iPhone 15 Pro Max is making headlines for all the wrong reasons as users are reporting a concerning display problem—screen burn.
Just a week after reports surfaced about overheating issues with Apple’s flagship iPhones, a new challenge has emerged for Cupertino to address.
Shortly after the official release, numerous buyers have taken to platforms like Reddit, X (formerly Twitter), and Apple’s community forum to highlight a ghosting effect on their iPhone 15 Pro Max devices.
This effect is attributed to burn-in, a longstanding display problem dating back to CRT screens on retro monitors. It occurs when remnants of the user interface linger on the screen even after navigation away from the content.
In the case of iPhone users, faded pixels of keyboards, home screen wallpapers, app icons, and other commonly used visuals remain static, creating an undesirable ghosting effect.
Burn-in has historically been associated with OLED displays, not exclusive to iPhones, and is primarily caused by leaving a fixed image on the screen for an extended period.
The issue is exacerbated by high brightness settings, as increased brightness warms the display and intensifies the screen burn. This phenomenon is commonly observed on demo units in storefronts that continuously play content on a loop at maximum brightness.
As Apple works to address this display concern, users await solutions to ensure a seamless and trouble-free experience with their iPhone 15 Pro Max devices.
