International Leaders React to Terrorist Attack in Moscow

An armed attack followed by a massive fire at a music concert hall in the suburbs of Moscow on Friday night left at least 60 people dead and more than 100 injured. ISIS claimed responsibility for the incident. Here are the main reactions to the attack:

Russia:
Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova described the incident as a “bloody terrorist attack” and a “terrible crime.”

Ukraine:
Presidential adviser Mykhailo Podoliak stated that Ukraine, which has been facing a Russian military attack for two years, “has no connection” to the attack. Meanwhile, Ukrainian military intelligence claimed that “the terrorist attack in Moscow was a planned and deliberate provocation by the Russian special services on the orders of (Vladimir) Putin,” aiming to “justify harsher strikes against Ukraine and mobilize Russians.”

United Nations:
UN Secretary-General António Guterres condemned the terrorist attack in Moscow “in the strongest terms,” according to his spokesperson Farhan Haq.

United States:
The White House expressed condolences, with National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby stating, “We sympathize with the victims of this horrific attack.”

China:
Chinese President Xi Jinping offered his condolences to Russian President Vladimir Putin, asserting that “China opposes terrorism in all its forms and strongly condemns the terrorist attack, supporting the Russian government’s efforts to maintain security and stability.”

France:
President Emmanuel Macron strongly condemned the terrorist attack, with the Élysée Palace stating that France expresses solidarity with the victims, their loved ones, and the entire Russian people.

Italy:
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni described the massacre of innocent civilians in Moscow as unacceptable, expressing full solidarity with the affected and the families of the victims.

Spain:
The Spanish Foreign Ministry expressed shock at the attack, condemning “any form of violence.”

European Union:
EU spokesperson Peter Stano said the EU is shocked and appalled by reports of the terrorist attack in Moscow’s Crocus City Hall, condemning all attacks on civilians.

Saudi Arabia:
The Saudi Foreign Ministry strongly condemned and denounced the attack, emphasizing the importance of combating extremism and terrorism and expressing condolences and wishes for security and safety for Russia and its people.

United Arab Emirates:
The UAE Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the criminal acts, offering heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the Russian government and people.

Palestinian Authority:
The Palestinian presidency strongly condemned and denounced the attack, reiterating President Mahmoud Abbas’s stance against terrorism from any source.

Israel:
Israeli Foreign Minister Yisrael Katz expressed sadness over the tragic events in Moscow, sympathizing with the families of the victims and all affected.

India:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the heinous terrorist attack in Moscow, stating that India stands with the Russian government and people during this time of mourning.

Mali:
The Malian government, politically and militarily aligned with Russia, strongly condemned the cowardly and barbaric attack targeting unarmed civilians.

Mexico:
The Mexican Foreign Ministry regretted the unfortunate loss of lives and rejected any act of violence against civilians.

Venezuela:
President Nicolas Maduro expressed support for President Vladimir Putin, firmly rejecting any act of violence.

Japan:
The Japanese Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the attack against civilians in Russia, offering sincere condolences to the grieving families.
