The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) affirmed on Friday that there was no damage to Iran‘s nuclear facilities in the attack believed to have been carried out by Israel.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the IAEA stated that it continues to closely monitor the situation and has called for maximum restraint from all parties involved, emphasizing that nuclear facilities should never be a target in military conflicts.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated the call for extreme caution, stressing again that “nuclear facilities must never be targeted in military conflicts.”

The statement follows early reports from ABC News on Friday, quoting a senior U.S. official who indicated that Israel had launched an attack against Iran in retaliation for an Iranian assault on Israeli territory last weekend.

The agency recently expressed concern about the potential targeting of Iranian nuclear facilities by Israel. However, he confirmed that the Agency’s inspections of Iranian facilities would resume on Tuesday.

This development highlights the escalating tensions in the region and underscores the critical importance of protecting nuclear installations to prevent any potential catastrophic consequences.

American and Iranian media outlets revealed that Israel carried out a strike inside Iran, but none of the reports identified the targets.

In response to Iran’s attack on Israel, both the US and the EU are actively considering the imposition of additional sanctions on Tehran.

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has signalled forthcoming action, stating that she anticipates taking measures “in the coming days.”

Meanwhile, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell has affirmed that the bloc is actively engaged in this matter.
