On Tuesday, the Lebanese group Hezbollah announced that it had targeted 11 Israeli military sites in eastern and western sectors of southern Lebanon.
In a series of statements, Hezbollah reported that its forces conducted operations on Monday, including a drone swarm attack on the headquarters of the Golani Brigade and the Egoz Unit 621 at the Shraga barracks north of Acre, resulting in direct casualties among officers and soldiers.
The statements also highlighted that Hezbollah’s air defense units engaged an Israeli warplane, forcing it to exit Lebanese airspace. Additional targets included the Western Brigade headquarters at Yaroun barracks and positions in Mayan Baruch, Haboushite, and Jal al-Alam.
Hezbollah also noted that the Israeli military had bombed 15 towns in southern Lebanon, with airstrikes and heavy artillery targeting areas like Kafr Kila, Taybeh, Tallousa, and Naqoura.
The conflict between Hezbollah and the Israeli military in southern Lebanon has been ongoing for 11 months, with tensions escalating recently following the Israeli military’s targeting of Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in late July.
Despite the continued hostilities, there has been no significant diplomatic progress towards de-escalation.
Last week, Hezbollah and the Israeli army exchanged fire, targeting military sites on both sides as tensions along the border have continued to escalate since October.
