Hamas’s military faction has released a video showcasing a man held hostage in Gaza, identified as Nadav Popplewell by the Hostages and Missing Families Forum campaign group.
In the footage, lasting 11 seconds, Popplewell appears, speaking amidst Arabic and Hebrew text reading: “Time is running out. Your government is lying.”
Popplewell, a British citizen, bears a black eye in the video, visibly under duress, yet without other apparent injuries. Clad in a white T-shirt, he introduces himself as a 51-year-old from kibbutz Nirim in southern Israel.
The abduction occurred during Hamas’s October 7 assault, which claimed the life of Popplewell’s elder brother. His mother, Hanna Peri, was also taken but was released during a brief truce in November, marking the sole pause in over seven months of conflict.
This recent video release marks the third instance in less than a month where Hamas has displayed captives on its armed wing’s Telegram channel.
