United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres stated on Thursday that there is no substitute for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Gaza Strip.

In a live broadcast on the platform X (formerly Twitter), Guterres emphasized that Palestinians in Gaza are living in hell, and UNRWA remains their only source of hope.

During a high-level meeting organized by Jordan and Sweden to support UNRWA on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Guterres called on world leaders to increase support for the agency.

He highlighted its vital role in providing essential services to nearly 6 million Palestinian refugees.

Guterres described the situation in Gaza as “beyond imagination.”
