Unidentified attackers opened fire on a Tunisian military patrol near the Libyan border on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a soldier, the Tunisian Ministry of Defense reported.

The Ministry stated that the military patrol was conducting its regular duties in the Remada area, near the Libya border, when it came under gunfire from an unknown source. The attack led to the tragic death of a soldier from the patrol unit.

Local authorities, with the authorization of the public prosecutor at the Military Primary Court in Sfax, have initiated an investigation into the incident to identify the attackers and uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack.
