Usage of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot, has seen a decline for the first time since its launch, according to data from Similarweb and Sensor Tower. In June, global traffic to the ChatGPT website and app downloads experienced a nearly 10% decrease.

The reasons behind this drop in user engagement are unclear, but it raises speculations about the waning interest in conversational AI chatbots. Similarweb’s analysis reveals a slowdown in engagement since March, with May and June seeing a significant slump.

Visitor engagement on the ChatGPT website has also decreased, indicating a shorter duration of time spent on the platform.

The decline in usage suggests a potential shift in the initial excitement surrounding AI chatbots. However, further analysis is needed to fully understand the factors contributing to this trend.
