Lebanon’s Army Commander Joseph Aoun and German Ambassador to Lebanon Kurt Georg Stockl-Stillfried signed an agreement whereby the German authorities provide a grant of €2 million euros to support the army.
Berlin will allocate one million euros for fuel security and another million euros for medical support.
This grant serves as an addition to a similar grant provided previously.
General Aoun considered this assistance crucial given the current exceptional circumstances, expressing appreciation to Germany for their support of the military establishment
The German Ambassador reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting the Lebanese Army through various means, acknowledging the critical roles it plays in safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereignty and protecting its citizens.
In recent years, Lebanon has faced significant economic and social crises, exacerbated by political tensions and regional instability.
These challenges have put immense pressure on the Lebanese Armed Forces, requiring them to navigate complex security dynamics while also addressing internal socio-economic issues.
