Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held a meeting at the GCC Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh with Sergey Kozlov, the Russian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.

The two officials discussed preparations for the upcoming seventh joint ministerial meeting of the GCC-Russia Strategic Dialogue.

According to a statement from the GCC Secretariat, the discussion focused on finalizing arrangements for the seventh joint ministerial meeting, scheduled to take place next Monday at the GCC Secretariat in Riyadh.

The Secretary-General emphasized that the meeting underscores both parties’ commitment to ongoing coordination and consultation to strengthen Gulf-Russian relations and achieve mutual goals.

He added that the agenda for the meeting will include various topics aimed at advancing cooperation between the two sides in areas of common interest.

The meeting will also cover key regional and international issues, providing an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on significant matters.

The GCC recently expressed full solidarity and support for the Arab Republic of Egypt against provocative statements made by the Israeli Prime Minister, aimed at tarnishing Egypt’s image and undermining its significant and leading role in the region, particularly in its clear mediation efforts to resolve the Gaza crisis.

The Secretary-General highlighted Egypt’s pivotal role in enhancing regional and international stability through its ongoing mediation efforts to calm tensions and cease fire in the Gaza Strip, alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people since the crisis began.

Al-Badiwi firmly rejected such irresponsible statements that do not serve peace in the region but instead contribute to escalating tensions and worsening situations.

He emphasised the necessity for Israel to adhere to international principles and signed agreements, as well as to cease its aggressive actions in Gaza and all Palestinian territories.
