Gaza’s health spokesperson revealed on Sunday that the region’s healthcare system is on the brink of collapse, having lost all its therapeutic capabilities, the necessary fuel to operate, and the limited aid entering the sector remains insufficient and has not reached the hospitals.
In a related development, Abdul Nasser Al-Ajrami, the head of the Bakers Association, stated an agreement was reached with UNRWA to distribute flour free of charge to bakeries in the southern sector, with the bread being sold at a mere four shekels. He emphasized that bakeries will resume operations starting tomorrow morning.
Elaborating on the plan’s second phase, Al-Ajrami indicated that it aims to supply bakeries with diesel and fuel. There are preliminary promises to facilitate their entry. He disclosed that seven bakeries had ceased operations due to targeted attacks, but ensured that the conditions in the northern region remain stable.
Highlighting the dire circumstances, he noted that nearly 60,000 displaced individuals are currently taking shelter in Al-Shifa Hospital and UNRWA schools in the Al-Nasr region. To alleviate the intense demand, bakeries in this area will open tomorrow.
Separately, Gaza’s government media office reported intensified bombings by Israeli forces targeting civilian gatherings in vital areas like markets and bakeries, aiming to escalate the casualty count. The office stated that over 15 such civilian gatherings in markets, outside bakeries, shelters, and squares have been documented to have been targeted, resulting in dozens of martyrs and hundreds of injured individuals.
