The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced on Sunday that the death toll from Israel’s ongoing military offensive on the Gaza Strip has reached 41,595, with 96,251 injured since the conflict began on October 7.
Over the past 24 hours alone, nine more Palestinians were killed and 41 others were wounded as the Israeli bombardment of the enclave continues.
According to the ministry’s report, many victims remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings, and rescue teams are struggling to reach them due to the intensity of the airstrikes and the destruction of infrastructure.
Emergency services and civil defense teams have faced extreme difficulty accessing affected areas, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
This escalation marks one of the deadliest phases in the long-standing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which has seen repeated cycles of violence, particularly in Gaza.
The coastal enclave, home to over two million Palestinians, has been under an Israeli blockade since 2007, following the rise of Hamas, a militant group that governs the territory.
Tensions between Israel and Hamas escalated into full-scale conflict on October 7, when Hamas launched an unprecedented large-scale attack on Israel, killing hundreds and taking dozens of hostages.
In response, Israel launched an extensive military campaign in Gaza, targeting Hamas infrastructure but resulting in widespread civilian casualties and the destruction of homes, hospitals, and schools.
The international community has expressed growing concern over the rising death toll, with calls for ceasefires and humanitarian corridors to assist those caught in the conflict.
However, diplomatic efforts have so far failed to cease hostilities, and the region remains embroiled in one of the bloodiest confrontations in recent memory.
