In a harrowing update from the besieged Gaza Strip, the Health Ministry revealed on Wednesday that the death toll from Israeli attacks has surged to 26,900 since October 7.
The Health Ministry issued a statement as the Israeli onslaught marked its 117th day.
According to the statement, a staggering 65,949 individuals have been injured in the attacks, underscoring the magnitude of the crisis.
In the past 24 hours alone, the Israeli army carried out 16 “massacres” across the Gaza Strip, resulting in 150 fatalities and 313 injuries, the ministry reported.
“Many people are still trapped under the rubble, and rescuers can’t reach them,” the statement emphasized, highlighting the dire circumstances on the ground.
The Israeli airstrikes intensified following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas in October, during which nearly 1,200 Israelis are believed to have lost their lives.
The consequences have been devastating, with approximately 85% of Gazans displaced by the ongoing onslaught.
The situation has left all residents food insecure, according to the United Nations.
Moreover, hundreds of thousands of people are currently living without adequate shelter, compounding the humanitarian crisis.
Shockingly, less than half of the aid trucks that were entering the territory before the conflict have been able to do so in recent times, exacerbating the challenges faced by the population. The gravity of the situation in Gaza demands urgent international attention and action.
