French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin is facing death threats in the aftermath of his declaration to dissolve several small far-right groups. The threats, suspected to originate from the far-right, were transmitted through the contact form on the official website of the French Ministry of the Interior.

Among the alarming messages received, one explicit threat warned Darmanin of potential harm, stating, “I warn you, false minister, your life is getting shorter with every passing second.”

Responding to these threats, the minister is preparing to file a formal complaint to address the severity of the situation. Darmanin’s decision to dissolve far-right groups came on the heels of a series of attacks orchestrated by activists. The catalyst for these actions was an incident in Crepol, where a man lost his life during a village festival.

The move to dissolve far-right groups reflects the French government’s commitment to addressing extremist activities and ensuring public safety. However, the response to this initiative has escalated into threats against Minister Darmanin’s life. Authorities are expected to investigate the origin of the threats and take appropriate measures to safeguard the minister’s security.

The incident underscores the challenges faced by public figures and policymakers in navigating the complex landscape of ideological conflicts and extremism. The French government remains vigilant in its efforts to maintain law and order while confronting elements that pose a threat to social harmony.
