In a recent statement, a spokesperson for the French army confirmed their country’s unwavering commitment to addressing threats in the Red Sea and ensuring the safety of French and European vessels, thereby upholding maritime security.

Emphasizing the longstanding nature of French frigate operations in the Red Sea, the spokesperson underscored Paris’s enduring dedication to this strategic region.

Elaborating further, the spokesperson reiterated France’s pledge to guarantee the security of ships navigating from the Strait of Hormuz to the Suez Canal, vital maritime routes that are crucial for global trade.

On a recent Sunday, the French Armed Forces made headlines by announcing the successful interception and destruction of two Houthi vessels in the Red Sea.

These vessels were reportedly targeting the multi-mission frigate “Languedoc,” which operates in the region.

This proactive action by French forces signals their proactive stance against potential threats and aligns France with the efforts of US and British counterparts in countering Houthi activities, all while seeking to avoid direct confrontation with the group.
