French Airlines and its subsidiary, Transavia, have announced the resumption of their flights to Beirut, Lebanon, starting tomorrow, Thursday. This decision comes after a 15-day suspension due to geopolitical tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
In a statement released today, French Airlines indicated that contingent upon the security developments in the region, it plans to restart its operations between Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport and Beirut, which had been halted since July 29, 2024. Transavia France’s flights will also resume under this decision.
The initial suspension by French Airlines, alongside other carriers, was triggered by concerns over a potential military conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
The company emphasized that the continuation of flights would be subject to daily evaluations of the regional situation, reaffirming that “the safety of its passengers and crew remains its utmost priority.”
The French government has called upon its citizens residing in Lebanon to leave the country due to potential military escalation in the Middle East, according to a travel advisory issued by the foreign ministry on Sunday.
The advisory also reiterated the ministry’s recommendation against travelling to Lebanon.
Kuwait Airways announced the suspension of all flights to Beirut starting Sunday due to the current situation in the region.
The company stated that its last flight to the Lebanese capital, Beirut, will be at 12 noon local time in Kuwait City.
In a post on its official account on the platform formerly known as Twitter, now X, the company said: “Kuwait Airways announces the operation of its last flight from Beirut to Kuwait on Sunday, 4/8/2024, for passengers wishing to return.
Passengers will be accepted starting four hours before the scheduled departure time, or they can modify their booking times through Kuwait Airways’ ticket reservation channels…”
