The Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday that Tunisia and the European Union have agreed on a support program worth €150 million.

According to the ministry, this program aims to bolster the Tunisian government’s efforts to promote economic development by enhancing public finance management, supporting the business environment, and boosting investment.

This European support is part of the Memorandum of Understanding on the comprehensive strategic partnership between Tunisia and the EU, signed in Tunis on July 16, 2023.

The memorandum includes five key areas: supporting overall economic stability, enhancing economic and trade relations, the energy transition, people-to-people exchanges, and migration and mobility.

The ministry stated that this program falls within the first axis of the memorandum, focusing on direct financial transfers to the Tunisian Treasury to support the state budget.

This support aims to strengthen the Tunisian government’s efforts towards stable and inclusive economic development benefiting all Tunisians.

The foreign ministry emphasized Tunisia and the European Union’s commitment to working together to implement the five key areas of the memorandum simultaneously and address common challenges within the framework of solidarity, mutual respect, and friendly cooperation.
