Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made a compelling appeal on Saturday for the convening of an international peace conference to establish a lasting settlement between Israel and the Palestinians. Speaking during a joint extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh, Erdogan emphasized that Jerusalem is a “red line” for Muslims.

Erdogan pointed out that Israel’s attempts to seek retribution for the events of October 7th by killing innocent men, women, and children are unacceptable. He stressed the necessity of holding Israel accountable for its humanitarian crimes and initiating the required investigations.

The Arab-Islamic joint summit in Riyadh, which commenced on Saturday, aims to address the Israeli military offensive in Gaza. Leaders from participating nations have gathered to discuss the ongoing conflict and potential diplomatic solutions.

Erdogan’s call for an international peace conference underscores the urgency of resolving the Israel-Palestine conflict, which has led to a tragic loss of life and humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The proposal aligns with efforts to find a comprehensive and lasting solution that respects the rights and aspirations of both Palestinians and Israelis.

Erdogan’s stance mirrors the sentiment of many leaders and nations around the world who advocate for an end to the violence and suffering in the region. As the conflict continues to escalate, international diplomacy and cooperation become increasingly vital in bringing about a sustainable peace agreement.

The situation in the Middle East demands swift and effective international intervention to prevent further loss of life and alleviate the suffering of civilians caught in the crossfire. Erdogan’s proposal for a peace conference reflects the collective desire for a just and lasting resolution to the long-standing Israel-Palestine conflict.
