Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is set to participate in the high-level segment meetings of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, taking place in New York. The session, titled “Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity,” holds particular significance as it aims to promote collaborative efforts toward achieving the 2030 Agenda and sustainable development goals, particularly in the face of numerous global challenges hindering progress.
Shoukry’s participation in this session includes several high-level events, such as addressing the UNGA on September 23 and taking part in the UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (SDG Summit) and the Climate Ambition Summit. Additionally, he will lead the ministerial meeting on damage and losses, as well as the Global Counterterrorism Forum.
The Egyptian foreign minister’s visit to New York also involves engagements focused on attracting investments to Egypt, showcasing government measures to encourage foreign investment, and addressing key economic forums. Shoukry will meet with officials from the World Economic Forum and deliver speeches at the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) and the American Council on Foreign Relations.
Furthermore, Shoukry is expected to participate in ministerial meetings addressing prominent international and regional issues, including discussions on Sudan and its humanitarian response, reflecting Egypt’s active role in addressing regional challenges and fostering international cooperation.
