A high-ranking Egyptian source refuted reports by Israeli media regarding a shooting incident at the Egypt-Israel border, confirming that no such events occurred in the border area.
Speaking to Cairo News, the source clarified that the incident involved an exchange of fire between Israeli border guards and a group of smugglers in the Negev Desert.
The denial comes in response to Israeli media claims of injuries among the army due to a vehicular attack at the border with Egypt.
Israeli reports also mentioned an Israeli military response to an attempted drug smuggling operation at the Egyptian border, which allegedly resulted in gunfire and a vehicular assault causing several injuries.
These developments unfold amid heightened tensions between Cairo and Tel Aviv due to the situation in Gaza.
