Alexandria, Egypt (CNN) — Egypt’s Ministry of Transportation announced that the “Tahya Misr” container terminal in the port of Alexandria received the giant container ship “Nevada CMA CGM”, which is one of the largest container ships in the world.

This ship is the largest to be received at the port of Alexandria to date.

The ship is 366 meters long, 48 meters wide, and has a draft of 15 meters. Its total load is 150,000 tons, or the equivalent of 12,000 TEUs.

The Alexandria Port Authority explained that as soon as it received notification of the arrival of the “Nevada CMA CGM” ship, it planned its berthing at the port and took all the necessary preventive measures, before the ship set sail from its port of departure in Jeddah. The Egyptian Minister of Transport was keen to follow up on the developments with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Alexandria Port Authority and the Chairman of the Egyptian Group for Multipurpose Stations, to stand by the administrations of movement and maritime services in working to facilitate the mooring of this giant ship, and to provide all means of technical and operational support during the towing and guidance operations by the guidance teams and marine units to the highest degree of professionalism and efficiency.

Everyone took all measures to ensure the safety of the ship’s navigation from the moment it arrived in the port area, passing through the navigation channel, reaching its mooring and mooring, and monitoring and supervision through the advanced technical systems in the guidance tower. The ship was moored smoothly and in record time, despite the stormy weather conditions.

This is a significant milestone for the port of Alexandria, and it is a testament to the Egyptian government’s commitment to developing the country’s infrastructure and improving its trade competitiveness.
