In a press release today, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson and Director of Public Diplomacy at Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirmed that Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Sameh Shoukry, had a telephonic discussion on Monday with his US counterpart, Antony Blinken.
The call centered around the latest updates in bilateral relations, as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Zeid pointed out that during the call, both ministers underscored the importance of bolstering the strategic partnership between the two nations. This strengthening aims to boost various avenues of developmental, economic, and military cooperation.
Discussions also delved into regional and global developments, especially the situations in Sudan, Libya, and Niger. They further touched upon the outcomes of the special Arab Contact Committee meeting on Syria and the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Ambassador Abu Zeid elaborated that both the Egyptian and US foreign ministers emphasized their commitment to continue coordination and consultation in the coming period. The aim is to monitor the pathways of cooperation between the two countries and collaboratively address the escalating challenges in the region.
