Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Tuesday to discuss various bilateral cooperation issues. The talks covered the Gaza war, the situations in Sudan, Libya, the Sahel, and the Horn of Africa.
Abdel Aty reaffirmed Egypt’s stance on keeping the Rafah border crossing open, expressing hope for a ceasefire agreement to stop the bloodshed in Gaza.
He emphasized the urgency of halting the violence, citing over 40,000 deaths, mostly women and children, and nearly 100,000 injuries.
He also noted that ceasefire negotiations would begin soon, with US participation expected on Thursday and Friday.
