Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed a US Congressional Delegation, led by Republican Congressman August Pfluger, Chairman of the Counterterrorism, Law Enforcement, and Intelligence Subcommittee, along with members from both Democratic and Republican parties.

The meeting, attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Director of the General Intelligence Service Major General Abbas Kamel, underscored the robust strategic partnership between Egypt and the US.

Presidential Spokesman Counselor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy stated that discussions highlighted the pivotal role of Congress in strengthening bilateral relations, particularly amidst regional and international challenges. The US Congressional Delegation recognized Egypt’s contributions to regional security and stability, emphasizing the positive impact of joint coordination in various fields on the interests of both nations and the region.

The talks addressed collaboration in security and counterterrorism efforts, emphasizing the need for enhanced joint endeavors. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s vision, emphasizing the importance of peace and development in combating terrorism and extremism.

The meeting delved into the regional situation, focusing on Gaza. President El-Sisi outlined Egypt’s intensified efforts for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of relief aid to alleviate the immense suffering of over two million Palestinians. He emphasized the international community’s responsibility to advocate for a sustainable ceasefire and prevent military escalation in Rafah, reiterating Egypt’s rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their lands.

Both sides expressed concern over the regional conflict’s potential expansion, recognizing the two-state solution as crucial for restoring and consolidating security and stability in the region.
