Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and U.S. President Joe Biden delved into the ongoing situation in the Gaza Strip. President El-Sisi took a firm stance, assuring that Egypt would not allow the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to Egyptian territories.
Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, relayed that the two leaders engaged in an extensive discussion on the overall security situation in the Middle East. They examined the recent military escalation in the Gaza Strip and stressed the urgency of preventing the conflict from spreading across the regional landscape.
In this context, President El-Sisi underscored Egypt’s commitment to achieving an immediate humanitarian ceasefire.
This effort aligns with the intensive work undertaken by Egypt, in cooperation with the United Nations and key international players, including the US, to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian, medical, and relief aid to the residents of Gaza.
The two presidents concurred on the necessity of amplifying efforts to significantly, effectively, and sustainably increase aid, ensuring it meets the humanitarian needs of the people in the Strip, who are enduring extreme hardship.
The conversation also delved into the various facets of the current circumstances in the Gaza Strip. President El-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s unwavering stance against policies of collective punishment and displacement, asserting that Egypt has not and will not permit the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to its territories.
On his part, President Biden expressed the United States’ opposition to the displacement of Palestinians from their lands, highlighting his profound appreciation for Egypt’s positive role and leadership in navigating this crisis.
