Egypt is preparing to submit a bid to host the Summer Olympics in either 2036 or 2040.
The President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa highlighted that upgrading the country’s infrastructure and sports facilities is essential for the success of Africa’s bid to host the Games.
No African nation has ever hosted the Olympics. Cairo had previously applied to host the 2008 Games but was unsuccessful.
In recent years, Egypt, the most populous country in the Arab world, has invested billions of dollars into developing new sports facilities, stadiums, and complexes as part of its broader national development strategy.
One of the key projects is the International Olympic City in Egypt’s new administrative capital, located east of Cairo.
Under construction since 2015, this development is expected to include a 93,000-seat stadium and 21 additional sports facilities.
The bid for the 2036 or 2040 Olympics will be supported by ongoing improvements in infrastructure, including transportation and airports.
Egypt’s investment in these areas is designed to meet the high standards required by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for host cities.
