The Egyptian national team made history by clinching their sixth World Squash Championship title, setting an unprecedented record in the sport.

The men’s team triumphed at the World Squash Championship in New Zealand, surpassing England’s previous record to claim their sixth title in the history of the Pharaohs.

Egypt’s men have previously won the World Squash Championship five times, in the years 1999, 2009, 2011, 2017, and 2019.

In a thrilling final at this year’s championship, Egyptian player Mostafa Asal defeated Marwan ElShorbagy with scores of 11-9, 11-9, and 11-9.

Following this, his compatriot Ali Farag overcame Mohamed ElShorbagy in a close contest, with scores of 8-11, 11-2, 7-11, 11-8, and 11-7.

This victory marks a significant achievement for the Egyptian squash team, further solidifying their dominance in the sport and marking a new chapter in their illustrious history.

Reflecting on the team’s achievement, Egypt coach Hesham El-Attar expressed his elation, stating: “It’s amazing! There was a lot of tension; I know there were expectations for us to deliver, but we wanted it badly.”

El-Attar acknowledged the pressure that came with high expectations and emphasized the team’s approach: “We had to distract ourselves with the daily routine and not think too far ahead. One hour at a time.”
