Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly affirmed on Saturday Egypt’s full support for brotherly Somalia and its commitment to enhancing the country’s unity. He indicated that “the coming period holds great prospects for the Somali people.”
Madbouly stated, “Achieving Somali unity and supporting our Somali brothers at this stage is one of the top priorities of the Egyptian state.” He highlighted the commitment shown through “high-level official visits between the two sides over the past period.” The Prime Minister reiterated Egypt’s commitment to providing “the necessary support to brotherly Somalia in all fields.”
Additionally, Madbouly mentioned that “the Egyptian government is actively working to support and enhance economic, trade, and investment relations between Cairo and Mogadishu,” emphasizing the mutual interest in “strengthening cooperation and facilitating the necessary financing for business and investment activities between the two countries.” He expressed hope that the Somali Prime Minister would soon host a business forum in Somalia that brings together businessmen from both countries.
Madbouly also noted that Egypt is “ready to export any goods or commodities that Somalia needs,” affirming that “all efforts will be made to facilitate the access of these goods and commodities to meet the needs of the Somali citizen.”
On his part, the Somali Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, expressed his gratitude and appreciation for Egypt’s ongoing support, affirming that “Egypt is regarded as a big brother to Somalia, with the two countries having strong historical relations.” Barre added, “The cooperation between Egypt and Somalia is multifaceted… and Egypt has always been at the forefront of countries supporting us.” He highlighted the significant progress in the bilateral relations between Egypt and Somalia, pointing out that “the operation of flight routes between Cairo and Mogadishu since last July and the opening of the Egyptian embassy in Mogadishu on August 13 last year reflect this progress.”
In conclusion, the Somali Ambassador in Cairo thanked Egypt for its efforts to enhance the shared relations, emphasizing that “Egyptian support is not recent but is deeply rooted in history.”
