President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated that Egypt was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, embracing its role as a peace-promoting nation through its participation in peacekeeping and rebuilding efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This statement was made during a joint press conference with Denis Zvizdić, Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at the Ittihadiya Palace today.
President el-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina and expressed readiness to cooperate with all components of Bosnian society to achieve stability and development.
Additionally, President el-Sisi congratulated Bosnia and Herzegovina on the recent approval by the European Council to commence membership negotiations with the European Union, wishing the country success and progress on this vital path for its future.
The Egyptian President began his remarks by saying, “Mr. Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is my pleasure to welcome you and your accompanying delegation on your first visit to Egypt at this high level from Bosnia and Herzegovina in over 14 years. I am confident that this visit will enrich our bilateral relations and propel them towards new horizons, fulfilling the aspirations of our two friendly peoples.”
President el-Sisi noted that he had held important discussions with Denis Zvizdić today, reflecting a mutual desire to enhance bilateral relations. He emphasized Egypt’s commitment to deepening and developing all forms of cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The talks also covered efforts to boost economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries. Both leaders expressed a mutual interest in utilizing existing cooperation mechanisms and developing them further, including activating the joint committee for economic, scientific, and technical cooperation to enhance trade exchanges. They welcomed efforts to boost tourism exchanges through the establishment of a direct flight route from several Bosnian cities to Hurghada, which would stimulate tourism between the two nations.
Their deliberations also reflected a convergence of views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual interest. They agreed on the need to exert all efforts to calm regional tensions and achieve stability in the Middle East, as well as the importance of international efforts to immediately cease fire in the Gaza Strip, deliver relief aid to all areas of the sector, and engage earnestly and promptly in pathways to reach a just and sustainable political solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution, implementing a Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In closing, President el-Sisi expressed his sincere thanks to the Bosnian Presidency Chairman for the invitation to visit Bosnia and Herzegovina, looking forward to accepting it at the earliest opportunity to continue working on elevating relations between the two countries.
President el-Sisi also reiterated his welcome to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Egypt, hoping that this visit marks a major step towards enhancing and developing joint cooperation, enriching the historical relations and ties that unite the two friendly peoples.
