Egypt is demonstrating a strong political will to enhance democracy, advance human rights, and achieve social justice, according to Badr AbdelAtty, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration.

The Egyptian government is making significant strides in these areas, underscoring the importance of supporting human rights across all state institutions.

During a meeting with leaders and members of the Human Rights Sector and the technical secretariat of the Higher Committee for Human Rights, AbdelAtty highlighted the government’s commitment to human rights and social justice.

He noted the tangible progress Egypt has made in these fields and the crucial role of the Foreign Ministry in countering efforts to tarnish the country’s image abroad by showcasing these achievements.

Abdel Atty instructed the sector to intensify coordination and consultation with various ministries and relevant entities to maximize the benefits of the advancements in human rights.

The goal is to ensure comprehensive national efforts that reflect Egypt’s dedication to these values.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigration, Ambassador Ahmed Abu Zeid, emphasized that Egypt’s institutions are committed to supporting human rights and social justice.

He pointed out that significant milestones have been reached, and the ministry is actively working to highlight these successes to counter external narratives aimed at undermining Egypt’s image.

During the meeting, AbdelAtty stressed the importance of prioritizing national interests and enhancing diplomatic efforts, both domestically and internationally, through various sectors and embassies.

He received reports on Egypt’s progress in fulfilling its international human rights commitments and updates from the technical secretariat on supporting the government’s efforts and monitoring the objectives of the National Human Rights Strategy launched by President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in 2021.

This meeting is part of a series of discussions Dr. Abdel Atty is holding with different sectors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to exchange evaluations and set priorities for Egypt’s foreign policy.

These consultations aim to ensure that Egypt’s strategic interests are served and that the country’s relationships with other nations are strengthened.
