Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi welcomed Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh to Cairo on Thursday, as part of Khasawneh’s official visit to co-chair the 32nd session of the Supreme Joint Committee.
During their meeting, the leaders addressed bilateral relations and focused on the urgent situation in the Gaza Strip. They emphasized the need for concerted efforts to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire and facilitate the exchange of captives.
Both parties underscored the importance of ensuring an adequate supply of humanitarian aid to Gaza and expressed grave concerns about the severe humanitarian consequences of Israel’s military operations in Rafah.
Additionally, El-Sisi and Khasawneh emphasized the imperative for the international community to advocate for a two-state solution, involving the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with Eastern Jerusalem as its capital. They highlighted that such a solution is crucial for regional stability.
