Egypt’s Ministry of Civil Aviation continues its efforts to repatriate Egyptian nationals from Lebanon by organizing special flights through the national carrier, EgyptAir.
In a statement, the Ministry announced the successful completion of a second flight which brought back 304 stranded Egyptians to their homeland amidst ongoing turmoil in Lebanon.
The Ministry also highlighted the departure of a flight from Cairo International Airport, carrying a 22-ton humanitarian aid shipment including medical supplies provided by the Egyptian Red Crescent.
This operation is part of a broader commitment by the Egyptian state to maintain collaborative efforts across various ministries and institutions to support the Lebanese people.
Dr. Sameh El Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, emphasized the coordinated efforts with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to ensure the safe return of Egyptians and continuous communication with the Egyptian embassy and EgyptAir’s office and station in Beirut to expedite their return.
Minister El Hefny further noted that the Ministry of Civil Aviation and its affiliated companies are committed to providing all necessary support and facilities for transporting Egyptian relief shipments to Lebanon.
He affirmed EgyptAir’s ongoing role in organizing additional special flights if needed to facilitate the return of more Egyptians wishing to come back from Lebanon in the near future.
Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty announced on Tuesday that Egypt has been conducting intensive communications with regional and international parties to de-escalate tensions in the region and implement an immediate ceasefire.
During a joint press conference in Cairo with his Spanish counterpart, José Manuel Albares, Abdel Aaty condemned the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire. He highlighted that the Israeli operations in Lebanon have displaced over 1.2 million people.
