Sami Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Josep Borrell, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, have signed a framework agreement between Egypt and the European Union to enhance Egypt’s utilization of several European technical programs.

This signing took place on the sidelines of the tenth meeting of the Egypt-European Union Association Council.

Minister Shoukry leads Egypt’s delegation participating in the tenth meeting of the Egypt-European Union Association Council, presiding alongside Josep Borrell, the Deputy President of the European Commission and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The meeting is also attended by foreign ministers from European Union member states.

The convening of this year’s tenth meeting of the Association Council holds particular significance as it coincides with the 20th anniversary of the entry into force of the Partnership Agreement between Egypt and the European Union.

This agreement serves as the overarching framework governing the relationship between the two parties and the reference for bilateral cooperation across various political, economic, trade, cultural, and other domains.

Furthermore, the Association Council represents the comprehensive framework for monitoring the implementation of the Egyptian-European partnership agreement and capitalizing on the ambitious framework of the Priorities for Partnership document signed between the two parties for the period 2021-2027.
