On Saturday evening, October 5, an Egyptian aid shipment arrived at Beirut Airport, delivering 22 tonnes of urgent medical supplies, medications, and relief essentials.
This action is in line with the directives from the President of Egypt to offer comprehensive support to Lebanon and its people to counteract the effects of Israeli aggression.
This shipment is a continuation of the Egyptian air bridge initiated in August 2021, underscoring Egypt’s governmental and popular solidarity with Lebanon during crises.
The aid was received by the Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, along with Lebanon’s Minister of Health, Minister of Environment, the Coordinator of the National Emergency Committee, and the Minister of Economy and Trade.
In a related effort, the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut successfully coordinated the return of 286 Egyptians stranded in Lebanon along with their families.
This return was facilitated by an exceptional flight operated by EgyptAir, necessitated by the disruption of most commercial airline services due to Israeli aggression.
Furthermore, following the escalation of the situation in Lebanon, the Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aaty had earlier directed the formation of a crisis cell within the ministry.
The Deputy Minister for Immigration and Egyptian Expatriate Affairs the Assistant Minister for Consular Affairs and Egyptians Abroad were tasked with overseeing this initiative.
A similar crisis cell was established at the Egyptian Embassy in Beirut, operating round-the-clock to address inquiries from Egyptians wishing to return home and assist them with their repatriation on exceptional flights arranged by the Egyptian government between Beirut and Cairo.
