The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its profound condemnation and censure of the intrusion into Al-Aqsa Mosque by extremists, facilitated under the protection of Israeli police forces.
Egypt’s diplomatic entity urgently called on Israeli authorities to halt such escalating actions immediately, actions which potentially inflame sentiments of millions of Muslims worldwide. Such provocations aggravate tensions and violence within the occupied Palestinian territories.
Egypt further emphasized that recurring breaches of the revered Al-Aqsa Mosque and attempts to fragment it temporally and spatially, contradicting international law norms and global resolutions, won’t undermine its historical and legal status as a sacred Islamic endowment. Such provocative measures erode the foundations upon which regional and international efforts are based, aimed at rejuvenating the peace process rooted in the two-state solution.
Reiterating its call, Egypt beckons influential international entities, the United Nations, and its affiliated bodies to fulfill their responsibilities in safeguarding the rights of the Palestinian people. Stressing its unwavering commitment, Egypt pledges its full support for the inalienable Palestinian rights and backs endeavors aimed at achieving a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue. This solution envisions the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Coinciding with the Hebrew New Year celebrations, hundreds of Israeli settlers intruded upon the Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards via the Moroccan Gate. Israeli forces subsequently expelled worshippers from the mosque and assaulted those stationed at the Chain Gate.
