Egypt’s North Sinai governorate has announced the temporary closure of Al-Arish Port to ship traffic and fishing boats due to adverse weather conditions and high sea waves caused by strong winds.

The decision to close the port was made based on information provided by the North Sinai Operations Room, which monitors weather conditions and maritime safety in the region.

In response to the challenging weather conditions, the main operations room and sub-operations rooms in the cities of Al-Arish and Sheikh Zuwaid, as well as central Sinai and Bir al-Abd, have elevated their readiness levels.

This includes coordinating with relevant government departments and agencies to effectively address the situation.

Additionally, the Al-Arish City Council has issued a safety advisory to residents, urging them to exercise caution and stay away from utility poles, tents, trees, and business areas for their safety.

Residents have been encouraged to report any rain-related concerns directly to the city council.

The decision to temporarily close Al-Arish Port is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of maritime activities during adverse weather conditions.

Authorities will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.

This closure serves as a reminder of the importance of safety measures and preparedness during severe weather events to protect both residents and the marine industry.
