Cairo, the capital of Egypt, hosted a conference on Saturday for Sudanese political and civil forces, attended by regional and international partners. The conference aimed to hear their views on the negative impacts of the ongoing conflict in Sudan, ways to address it, and the humanitarian needs of those affected throughout the country.
In his speech at the conference, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati emphasized:
“This conference is being held at a critical juncture in Sudan’s history.
The Sudanese crisis affects neighboring countries, Africa, and the Arab world.
The conflict in Sudan has forced millions to become internally displaced or seek refuge both within and outside the country.
The negative effects of the conflict have led to catastrophic humanitarian consequences.
There must be an immediate and sustainable end to the conflict to preserve our brotherly Sudan.
I call on all members of the international community to fulfill their commitments to Sudan.
The solution to the Sudanese crisis must come from within Sudan, without external intervention.
The unity of the Sudanese Armed Forces is crucial, as recent developments have shown, to protect Sudan.”
The conference, held in Cairo, provided a platform for discussing the dire humanitarian situation in Sudan and exploring potential solutions to the ongoing conflict.
