The platform “Statista”, specialized in statistical and financial analysis, stated that the volume of e-commerce via mobile devices surpassed 2.2 trillion dollars during the first half of 2023. According to the platform, “the volume of e-commerce through mobile devices exceeded 2.2 trillion dollars in 2023.” The platform added that “these numbers constitute 60% of the total global e-commerce sales,” anticipating that “mobile sales will exceed 3.4 trillion dollars by 2027.”
The platform attributed “this tremendous increase in the use of mobile phones for shopping to several factors, including easy internet access and the availability of shopping apps on mobile phones.” It also pointed to the role of “increasing use of social media, SMS marketing, and email, which contribute to raising consumer awareness of instant offers.”
Statista sees in these figures “a clear indication that the future represented by e-commerce through mobile phones is promising due to advanced technology and the availability of high-speed internet in most parts of the world.” It also expects “this growth to continue and the reliance on mobile phones in e-commerce to increase in the coming years.”
