The Chief of General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, Karel Rika, during his visit to Kyiv, met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, to discuss the current situation in the security sector, the possibility of assistance from the Czech Republic, alongside military training and expertise exchange.
According to a statement released by the Czech military, Ukrainian partners appreciated the assistance provided by the Czech Armed Forces, as reported by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform on Thursday. Earlier, General Rika mentioned that in 2023, more than 2500 Ukrainian soldiers underwent military training in the Czech Republic.
Currently, another Ukrainian unit is undergoing training at the Libava military training area in the Olomouc region of the Czech Republic.
By a government decision, the Czech Republic has committed to training 4000 Ukrainian soldiers in 2023. In the previous month of October, the Czech government approved the extension of the Ukrainian soldier training mission in the Czech Republic until the end of 2024.
“We will continue to assist Ukraine. Our meetings are crucial to ensure that the aid provided to Ukraine achieves maximum benefit,” Rika emphasized.
