A heated exchange unfolded on the X platform between Colombian President Gustavo Petro and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the Israeli war on Gaza, which Petro has labeled a “genocide.” This confrontation follows Colombia’s severance of diplomatic ties with Israel.
On Sunday, President Petro launched a new verbal attack in response to Netanyahu’s reply to an earlier tweet from Petro. Addressing the Israeli Prime Minister, Petro stated, “Mr. Netanyahu, history will record that you are committing genocide.
Bombing thousands of innocent children, women, and elderly does not make you a hero. You stand alongside those who killed millions of Jews in Europe.” He further emphasized, “Genocide is genocide, regardless of the religion of its victims.”
Petro concluded his remarks with a plea: “At least try to stop the massacre.”
This latest attack from the Colombian leader came after Netanyahu had previously criticized Petro on X platform on Saturday evening, following Petro’s call for the International Criminal Court to issue an arrest warrant for the Israeli Prime Minister.
Netanyahu retorted to Petro’s accusations by stating, “Israel does not take lectures from an anti-Semite and a supporter of Hamas, a genocidal terrorist organization that butchered, raped, mutilated, and burned 1,200 innocent people on October 7th. Shame on you, President Petro!”
Earlier on Friday, Petro had posted on X, asserting that “Netanyahu will not stop the genocide in Gaza,” suggesting that this necessitates an international arrest warrant against him from the International Criminal Court.
