China has expressed its opposition to any unauthorized military presence in Syria and the illegal exploitation of the country’s natural resources. This was outlined in a joint statement between China and Syria marking the establishment of their strategic partnership.

The statement, which was broadcasted by China Central Television (CCTV), emphasized, “China opposes any unauthorized military presence in Syria, illegal military operations, and the unlawful looting of Syrian natural resources.”

A recent joint statement by China and Syria underlined a new strategic partnership between the two countries. This announcement follows high-level talks in the Chinese city of Hangzhou between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Strong Support for Syria’s Sovereignty
China’s commitment to backing Syria in safeguarding its independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity was reiterated in the statement. It read, “We firmly support the policies and actions taken by the Syrian government to protect national security, stability, and development.

We oppose the intervention of external forces in Syria’s internal affairs and undermining its security and stability.”

Syria’s official news agency, SANA, reported on the establishment of a strategic partnership between the Syrian Arab Republic and the People’s Republic of China. This comes in the wake of the summit meeting between President Assad and President Xi in the Chinese city of Hangzhou.

Syria Affirms ‘One-China’ Principle

Furthermore, the strategic partnership statement, which was published by SANA, emphasized that both sides would continue to steadfastly support each other on issues related to core interests and major concerns.

The Syrian side resolutely adheres to the ‘One-China’ principle, acknowledging that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing all of China. It recognized Taiwan as an integral part of Chinese territory and supports China’s efforts to maintain its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
