The Chinese Consul in Karachi, Yang Yundong, has expressed China’s readiness to mediate between Pakistan and Iran to defuse the ongoing tension following mutual airstrikes against militant groups operating along their shared border.

Yang Yundong stated in an interview with Geo News, “China wishes to offer Pakistan and Iran a constructive role in resolving their disputes.”

He highlighted that Pakistan and Iran are two of the largest countries in the region and the Islamic world, emphasizing China’s hope for a peaceful resolution of their differences through negotiations and diplomatic means.

Last Tuesday, Iran announced that it had launched missile and drone strikes against hideouts of the “Jaish ul-Adl” group in Pakistan’s Balochistan province.

Pakistan condemned this attack and summoned its ambassador to Tehran. On Thursday morning, Pakistan announced that its military had conducted several airstrikes against terrorist gatherings in southeast Iran.

This move by China signals its commitment to regional stability and its willingness to facilitate dialogue between two significant neighbors, Pakistan and Iran, to ease tensions and promote peaceful relations.
