Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called for a humanitarian pause in the Gaza conflict to facilitate the release of all hostages.

Trudeau told reporters on Wednesday that his country is calling for a significant humanitarian pause in the Gaza conflict to allow for the release of all hostages.

Earlier, the Coordinator of Strategic Policies at the US National Security Council, John Kirby, stated that Washington currently does not support a ceasefire in Gaza.

Kirby explained during a press conference that the United States does not believe that a ceasefire is right, as Hamas would benefit from it,” adding that what should be considered are humanitarian ceasefire periods.

Regarding Israel’s ground offensive in Gaza, Kirby noted that the United States understands Israel’s pursuit of Hamas leaders on the ground.
