US President Joe Biden spoke with former President Donald Trump on Saturday night, hours after a possible assassination attempt at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania.

Biden, thoroughly briefed by federal agencies, addressed the nation in hastily assembled remarks on live TV. “I’ve been trying to reach Donald, who is with his doctors and apparently doing well. I plan on talking to him shortly,” Biden said.

Expressing his condemnation, Biden stated, “There’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick. We have to unite this country.” He emphasized, “We cannot allow this to happen. We cannot condone this.”

Biden thanked the Secret Service and law enforcement agencies for their swift response to the incident.
