Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani praised the positive results achieved through the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement signed between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States a year ago.
He emphasized how the agreement has strengthened the long-standing strategic partnership between the two nations under the leadership of Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and U.S. President Joe Biden.
In a statement reported by the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on Thursday, Al-Zayani highlighted the strategic gains of the agreement since it was signed by Bahraini Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington.
He noted its impact on bolstering cooperation in defense and security, with continued oversight from National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, Lt. General Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The agreement also enhances economic cooperation, trade exchange, investment, and collaboration in science, technology, and network security.
It focuses on the development of digital infrastructure for information and communication technology, cybersecurity, and the adoption of a “cloud-first” computing policy.
Al-Zayani emphasized that the bilateral relationship has progressed based on mutual trust, respect for international law, and the principles of the United Nations Charter. He noted the United States’ recognition of Bahrain as a key security partner and major non-NATO ally.
Bahrain’s role in the international coalition against terrorism, safeguarding airspace and maritime security, and promoting peace, tolerance, and human rights was also acknowledged.
This is further evidenced by Bahrain’s top-tier ranking in the U.S. State Department’s annual human trafficking report for the seventh consecutive year.
As the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement enters its second year, Al-Zayani affirmed that Bahrain and the U.S. are advancing toward even greater integration and strategic partnership across various defense, security, developmental, and technological sectors.
This will continue to benefit both nations and strengthen their roles in promoting regional and global security and prosperity.
